As a social scientist of international security, I focus on deterrence, conflict, crisis management, and coercive diplomacy in relation to domestic political systems and institutions. My theoretical interests include deterrence internalization, perfect deterrence, and selectorate theory.
Methodologically, I have recently developed a strong interest in computational social science (CSS), particularly the applications of machine learning, including deep learning, in advancing social science research. I am interested in integrating reinforcement learning and formal theory to enhance simulation models, as well as utilizing satellite data for more in-depth and diverse analyses in the field.
