The Political Science Using R Programming (PSUR) Ad-hoc Lab aims to help researchers at the introductory level of quantitative methodology by summarizing basic statistical concepts and basic knowledge of the R program for data analysis.

As big data is utilized throughout society, data analysis is widely used in research fields that deal with data. In political science research, data analysis is one of the important research methods because it can approach political phenomena quantitatively and objectively and move causal theories into scientific knowledge.
These data analysis methods are largely based on a statistical mindset, so if you are not able to overcome your difficulties with statistics, you will spend a long time wrestling with data analysis. To alleviate this problem, the PSUR Ad-hoc Lab aims to organize and eventually share the basic statistical concepts needed for data analysis.
The PSUR Ad-hoc Lab utilizes R/RStudio. R has more freedom than SPSS or STATA, which are often used by social scientists, but it has the disadvantage of being difficult for non-majors. However, R has the distinct advantage of being useful for data mining and handling big data. Therefore, the next goal of the PSUR Ad-hoc Lab is to apply statistical concepts in practice using various features of R, and to organize methods for data analysis and ways to make the results stand out.

The basic statistical contents and R programming methods compiled by the PSUR Ad-hoc Lab will be compiled and distributed as a report in the future, which will be a useful resource for students studying social sciences who want to enter data analysis.
